Technical Lead & Data Architect

We are looking for a hands-on Technical Lead & Data Architect for two biopharma data products: a live .NET platform and a React / Node.js product in development. This role combines technical leadership and data architecture: you will own the architecture of the company’s digital platforms (data products, content systems, client-facing interfaces) and take over responsibilities from the current in-house data architect. The most critical part of the system is the database: its management, data quality, security, and governance.

The most critical part of the system is the database: its management, data quality, security, and governance.
The role is 50% strategy and 50% execution, so you will act as the first engineer: setting the technical direction, managing external development partners, and personally building critical foundations.
The stack includes .NET / C#, React, Node.js, and Azure (incl. Azure DevOps). The environment is remote-first and low-structure, with direct collaboration with Product, IT, and Business Intelligence.

Full-time, starting in mid-November 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Run the knowledge handover from the current team and vendor in the first 4 weeks: code, architecture, infrastructure, security, and documentation;
  • Own the technology roadmap and align it with business and product strategy;
  • Define and maintain the target architecture for data, content, and client-facing platforms;
  • Take ownership of data architecture (the most critical part of the platform): database design and management, data models, integrations, data flows, and governance;
  • Ensure architectural consistency, scalability, security, and reusability across all systems;
  • Lead the integration of acquired companies and new products into the technology stack;
  • Manage external development partners: own the technical brief, control delivery quality, and oversee implementation spend;
  • Deliver hands-on: architectural foundations, CI/CD and environments (Dev / Test / UAT / Prod), technical spikes, and critical path items;
  • Take prototypes built with no-code / AI tools (e.g. Replit) to scalable, production-ready products;
  • Advise on feasibility of new features and translate business priorities into technical decisions;
  • Identify and apply AI and automation opportunities where they bring efficiency or insight;
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and data governance standards (secure SDLC, audit and penetration-test readiness, GDPR);
  • Mentor engineers, provide feedback to direct reports, help define the future team setup (developers, QA, Product Owner), and build engineering capability as the team grows.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in software engineering, including 2+ years in architecture or engineering leadership roles (Solution / Platform / Data Architect, Tech Lead, or similar);
  • Proven experience in platform and architecture leadership in a scaling, product-led company;
  • Strong data architecture expertise: database design, administration, and performance tuning, data modelling, integration patterns, data platforms, and data governance;
  • Hands-on experience with the Azure ecosystem, including Entra ID (SSO, access control) and Azure data services;
  • Strong understanding of API-first design and integration of complex systems;
  • Hands-on coding ability in .NET / C# and React / Node.js (strong in at least one, good working knowledge of the other);
  • Track record of delivering complex technical platforms and managing external vendors;
  • Experience taking no-code or low-code prototypes to scalable products;
  • Practical understanding of AI and automation tools and their application in enterprise architecture;
  • Strategic mindset combined with hands-on problem-solving and attention to detail;
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate;
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a low-structure, remote-first environment;
  • Fluent English (C1 or higher);
  • Based abroad and available for occasional in-person client meetings internationally.

Nice to have

  • Experience integrating acquisitions or supporting due diligence and equity events;
  • Background in life sciences, biopharma, or other regulated industries;
  • Experience with BI tools and close collaboration with BI teams;
  • Experience building an engineering team from scratch.

We offer

  • AI-first engineering culture with clear guidelines for safe, effective AI usage in production;
  • Competitive compensation based on your skills, experience, and performance;
  • Certification exam costs covered on a successful pass (cloud and AI certifications prioritized);
  • 20 working days of annual paid vacation and 5 days of sick leave;
  • 3 additional days off for special occasions;
  • Experienced colleagues with 95% of middle and senior engineers;
  • Possibility to work from anywhere in the world;
  • Exciting projects involving the newest technologies;
  • Accounting as a service;
  • Flexible working approach.
