Relevant

Engineering Manager

Relevant Software is a full-cycle digital product development company. With 13 years on the market, we have delivered over 200 projects across various industries, including FinTech, Healthcare, PropTech, Construction, Retail, and Media.

We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to own client engagements end to end, from the first sales call to production release and handover. You own the full result: people, scope, quality, budget and margin. You will lead a delivery pod of 4–8 engineers, stay close to the code, and be the client’s main technical contact.

You report to the Head of Engineering and help us grow.

Responsibilities

  • Own each project from first client contact to handover: join sales calls, give a solution and estimate within 48 hours of a brief, run phased delivery with client sign-off, release to production, then close the project with a handover and a retrospective with the client;
  • Act as the client’s main technical contact and translate technical decisions into business value;
  • Own the project money: track budget vs scope delivered, keep the target margin, manage change requests and technical debt, and report honest status to the client and management;
  • Grow the account: find follow-up work and extensions together with Sales;
  • Own architecture and technical decisions; stay hands-on with code reviews, commits and PoCs;
  • Own the people on your project: staffing, onboarding, 1:1s, goals, mentoring, performance reviews, hiring and probation decisions;
  • Build a resilient pod with a deputy and a backup for every role;
  • Set how the team uses AI and ensure client data is handled safely.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in software development, including 2+ years leading a team;
  • Client-facing delivery experience in an outsourcing company, with T&M and fixed-price projects;
  • Hands-on expertise in at least one of Python, Node.js/TypeScript, .NET or Java;
  • Strong architecture and system design skills;
  • Experience with AWS, GCP or Azure and CI/CD;
  • 2+ years using AI development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or similar) daily, including agentic workflows and MCP;
  • Experience setting team-level AI practices and reviewing AI-generated code;
  • Commercial ownership: estimating under uncertainty, managing project budget, margin and burn;
  • Upper-Intermediate or higher English level;
  • Based abroad and available for occasional in-person client meetings internationally.

We offer

  • AI-first engineering culture with clear guidelines for safe, effective AI usage in production;
  • Competitive compensation based on your skills, experience, and performance;
  • Certification exam costs covered on a successful pass (cloud and AI certifications prioritized);
  • 20 working days of annual paid vacation and 5 days of sick leave;
  • 3 additional days off for special occasions;
  • Experienced colleagues with 95% of middle and senior engineers;
  • Possibility to work from anywhere in the world;
  • Exciting projects involving the newest technologies;
  • Accounting as a service;
  • Flexible working approach.
