Client & product

Poncho is a software product designed to enhance the financial well-being of U.S. military personnel. It offers tools for effective financial management, boosts financial literacy, and helps fulfill financial obligations. The platform also provides commanders with actionable insights into their subordinates and enhances overall job performance.

Poncho was co-founded by John P. Brown and Jim Shelton, both Marine veterans. Motivated by their experiences seeing the financial stress many service members face, they partnered with Relevant to develop a solution that provides the tools soldiers and their families need for financial stability and peace of mind.

Challenges

The challenge was in creating a practical and user-friendly platform that was able to securely manage financial data for U.S. military personnel while seamlessly integrating with a third-party financial data aggregator. Before Poncho, both service members and their commanders juggled multiple processes, each with its own interface and fragmented data, making efficient financial management nearly impossible.

The primary objectives were to create a secure integration with a leading 3rd party data aggregator, allowing immediate and secure account access for users; ensure accurate, real-time data flow for precise financial insights; and meet all regulatory and security requirements to protect sensitive information.

Job done

Security remained our top priority throughout the project. Relevant team implemented advanced encryption methods and multi-factor authentication to safeguard data integrity. Real-time synchronization was a priority, allowing users to access accurate financial insights whenever needed. Through thorough testing, the team ensured smooth system performance, resolving any potential issues early. As a result, the platform provided U.S. military personnel with a secure, reliable solution for managing their finances with confidence.
