Our client was running an outdated and overloaded legacy time tracking system for construction companies. In order to increase management efficiency and employee productivity, Relevant Software was called to deliver an efficient platform.

Project goals

  • Develop a modern SaaS platform Relevant Software strived to deliver a platform for tracking and reporting of employee working hours that would ease the working process for construction companies.
  • Satisfy all user segments The system had to satisfy the individual needs of both field workers that need basic reporting functionality, and managers, who are more focused on administrative tasks.
  • Provide convenient reporting The system should enable non-tech savvy workers of construction companies to quickly and easily report their working hours and submit specific additional information, such as materials used, extra costs, etc.
  • Develop flexible subscription plans We performed flexible subscription forms that enable to choose a preferable number of users.

Challenges

As the system needed to display a lot of different types of data (multiple time log entities) on a single screen, Relevant Software implemented a possibility to customize the screen view based on the user preferences with filtering by time logs, projects, clients, etc.

Among the system’s challenges and competitive advantages are its flexibility and very broad customization possibilities.
Admin user can tailor-make the company workflow via system settings, e.g. ban or allow managers to mark working hours as paid, or workers to log the time spent on lunch, overtimes, trip to work, enable or disable registration of expenses, and a lot more.

Therefore, one of the main development challenges was to handle this complicated internal business logic of the system, as well as support and extend the functionality without any negative influence on the system.
