Improving a restaurant booking system

Our client noticed that some parts of the traditional restaurant booking workflow in Qatar were suboptimal and had an idea for how to improve them.

TableZ is a digital restaurant booking platform that aims to be as intuitive and easy-to-use as possible.

Challenges

The main challenge of this project was providing operators and restaurant managers with access to the booking management feature while keeping the overall booking workflow stable. The highly intuitive UI was a pressure point in particular since the majority of managers did not have a lot of experience with tech.

Job done

We studied the market and existing booking workflows to find a way to integrate TableZ into them with minimal changes to traditional operations. Using that knowledge, our team was able to build an intuitive and simple experience for managers and operators.

Nearest restaurants

An interactive map shows the nearest restaurants to user’s location.

Special requests

Aside from the required fields like name and time, customers can leave special requests for the hostess and staff, while making a reservation.

Automatic suggestions

TableZ keeps track of reservations in real-time and suggests the best hours to book a table.

Reservation status

There are 3 reservation statuses: pending, approved, and declined, which are managed by operators.

Operators can handle reservations using their own admin panel.

Manager’s dashboard

Restaurant managers can use the dashboard to choose how their restaurants are presented and manage reservations.

Intuitive design

User Experience

We aimed to make the user experience effortless and fulfilling. All tasks performed by managers and operators have simple workflows with three steps at most.

User Interface

The app design focuses on bold colors and meaningful animations. To enhance the user interface, we used restaurant cards with background images.

Outcomes

Our client received an app that perfectly fit the workflow of their established business. Unlike similar apps, TableZ allowed customers to keep their traditional workflow while affordably entering the digital age.
