Senior Python Engineer (AI-Assisted Development)

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to build an AI-powered production platform on Google Cloud as part of a co-development engagement with our Client. The role requires strong backend ownership, hands-on work with cloud AI generation and rendering pipelines, and daily use of AI-assisted development tools. You will leverage AI throughout the development lifecycle while owning the quality, reliability, and maintainability of everything you ship.

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to build an AI-powered production platform on Google Cloud as part of a co-development engagement with our Client. The role requires strong backend ownership, hands-on work with cloud AI generation and rendering pipelines, and daily use of AI-assisted development tools. You will leverage AI throughout the development lifecycle while owning the quality, reliability, and maintainability of everything you ship.

The project is a multi-tenant, GCP-native, service-oriented platform for AI-driven creative production and automated quality scoring, composed of independently callable backend services consumed by a web application, admin tooling, and orchestration workflows. The work spans AI generation and rendering pipelines, automated compliance scoring, and multi-tenant isolation, with cost and performance as first-class architectural concerns. This is a co-build, not a handoff: we build and transfer the microservices, infrastructure, CI/CD, security baseline, and API contracts, while the Client owns and operates its own orchestration layer. You will work alongside embedded Client engineers with open repositories, joint code reviews, and shared PR pipelines. Responsibilities

  • Lead design and implementation of backend services orchestrating AI generation, rendering, and scoring across async batch and near-real-time workflows on GCP;
  • Own system design decisions: APIs, data models, integrations, tenant isolation, performance, and reliability;
  • Build and harden cloud AI pipelines: job dispatch, callbacks, retries, and model-conditioning workflows;
  • Implement end-to-end multi-tenant isolation so storage, data, and model artifacts are tenant-scoped and validated at every service boundary;
  • Design strongly-typed, idempotent service contracts with explicit job states and auditable traces;
  • Implement governance, retention enforcement, audit logging, and automated compliance checks against Client-defined rules;
  • Ensure quality through clean architecture, testing, code reviews, ADRs, and runbooks; participate in co-build ceremonies and knowledge transfer;
  • Leverage AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) to accelerate development, debugging, refactoring, and test generation, reviewing all AI output for correctness and maintainability.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional software development experience;
  • Strong backend expertise in Python and data-intensive, asynchronous applications;
  • Hands-on GCP experience: Cloud Run, Pub/Sub or Cloud Tasks, Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL), Cloud Storage, IAM, and observability;
  • Practical experience with cloud AI generation, inference, or rendering pipelines;
  • Strong system design skills: distributed systems, multi-tenant architecture, and tenant isolation;
  • RESTful API design with contract testing, backward compatibility, and resilience patterns (rate limits, retries, circuit breakers);
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, CI/CD, automated testing, and production deployment;
  • Practical experience with React and TypeScript;
  • Strong data-handling discipline: never sends client data, credentials, keys, or production schemas to public AI models; matches review rigor to blast radius;
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently with an embedded client team;
  • Upper-Intermediate or higher English level.
  • Ability to travel internationally for individual client meetings.

AI proficiency

  • Uses AI-assisted editors for real multi-file tasks and can explain every decision in a pull request;
  • Uses agentic workflows (Claude Code, Cursor agent mode, or equivalent) for well-scoped, reversible tasks — never for irreversible operations without human review of each step;
  • Treats model selection as an engineering decision: efficient models by default, frontier reasoning models reserved for architecture and complex debugging;
  • Manages context windows deliberately, recognizing and acting on context degradation;
  • Has configured at least one MCP server in a real workflow and understands its security implications in client and regulated environments;
  • Writes scoped, context-rich prompts and integrates validated AI steps into CI as a supplement to human review.

Nice to have

  • Experience with media or creative production platforms, computer-vision scoring, or content-moderation workflows;
  • Experience with AI/ML model-conditioning or fine-tuning workflows;
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, SSO, RBAC, and audit logging;
  • Experience mentoring engineers in AI-assisted development practices.
